“Without music, life would be a mistake.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche

It makes us laugh, it makes us cry. It gives us inspiration and can make us dance. It can coat us in a cloak of invisibility when we are out in public. It can give us extra energy when the tank is running on empty. It can hold a lifetime of memories within just a few bars. This is the magic of music.

Apart from the joy, it brings to our lives. It is also a powerful tool that can be used. It can teach people, spread a message, and change lives all in a matter of minutes.

Here are 4 Great ways to use the gift of music to your advantage to enhance your day to day.

Power Playlist

Create a list of songs that inspire you. A list full of high energy songs that get you pumped up and ready for action. Have this playlist there for first thing in the morning. This will be sure to get you fired up and ready to face the day.

Manipulating your moods

Songs have this amazing effect on our emotional states. Depending on the day we are having they can enhance our moods either way. So when your day starts to take a downward spiral. Put on music that is uplifting. Really take them in. Music has a wonderful way of being able to shift moods.

Aid In Focus

When studying, writing essays, assignments or work tasks. Songs with words often have a way of being distracting to your focus. Thinking words while hearing them can sometimes slow us down. Having a playlist of music that word free, such as instrumentals. Is a good way to lock out other sound and get focused on what you’re are trying to achieve.

Magic lines

In all songs, there is what I refer to as magic lines. These are lyrics of inspiration. These are lines that are relative to your life and that most importantly make you feel good. Write these down and reflect on them. Sing them on the top of your lungs while you’re driving down the road. An example of one of mine is;

See who’s the man to you.
Ain’t the same who’s the man to me.
Means there ain’t no man to be.
Except your own, so I plan to be, ain’t no plan achieved.
It just is how it had to be. -Solo

This is an affirmation for me to stay on my path. It reminds me every time I hear it, to be my own man. Try writing down 10 of your favourite lines from different songs and see what picture it paints for you. Enjoy the music!
