The internal-external experience is my favourite tool in sustaining mindset and staying in an empowered state. The Example of how we correlate with the stars.

The first stage is loosing blame.

We all like to point the finger at other people when it comes to problems in our lives. The thing is we don’t realise how much power we give away by doing so. We all know we can’t control what other people do. So by placing blame and responsibility for a situation on another person. Takes away our control of changing it right?

By accepting that everything in our lives both good and bad are our responsibility. Gives us the power back. This now gives us 100% control over situations in our lives. This can be a hard pill to swallow.

“I didn’t ask for the bad stuff to happen.” Sorry, you probably did. You just labelled it as someone else’s fault or out of your control. But in this moment by taking ownership. You give yourself the power to change.

1. How it affects you.
2. How you react to it.
3. How you play in the outcome/resolution.

“If you change the way you look at things, The things you look at change.” -Wayne Dyer

Problems are generally just Perception based and we give them more energy than require. Most the time they are highly influenced by past stories which make them seem impossible to get past. I Assure you they are not impossible.

Second Stage is becoming aware of the mechanics.

Science has proved that we are made up of the same material as the stars. It is also referenced in many different cultures we are considered people of the stars.

The way I break it down is like this. I often ask people what do stars do? The response is shine. Correct! Then I ask from where do they shine? From the inside out. Correct! So how does this relate to us as humans?

We often think that all the external stimulus around us is the guiding factor of how we are. The weather, the crowd and our environment. But what if we worked like stars. Shining from the inside out and the response from the external world was an example of how we shine internally?

Ever Been told that you look like your shining or glowing today. Then realise it cause you felt really good internally?

The External-internal experience works like this.

Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. Viktor E. Frankl

Any external stimulus that comes across our paths we choose to let in and affect our internal shine. We Choose Constantly what we let affect us. The problem is most of us are not aware of it. We let a cloudy day put a damper on our moods. The Traffic jam make us angry. Or that negative person in the office get us down.

It takes practice becoming aware of our responses. Some responses are so ingrained they are instant and almost seem like we don’t get a chance to choose our response.

Say I’m very proud of an achievement. My story is I worked hard, I sweated and put everything into this project. And someone comes along and slanders it. Instantly via my stories, I’m enraged. Yet, I don’t have to be. I choose to be. Between his external stimulus of slander and my Inraged response was my freedom to stay in a space of happiness. Not letting in the slander and continuing to feel amazing about my project.

Another short one would be.

When you wake up. It is overcast. Still, choose happiness. Don’t go, “Aww it’s overcast today is going to be shit”. Choose to be happy and enjoy my day no matter what.

It is a really powerful tool. After practice, you can check in with yourself and ask is this really in line with my inner goals and happiness. If not discard the external stimulus.

At Broda, this is a tool we teach to aid clients in keeping check on themselves. Also to keep themselves in that space of happiness. Feel free to get in contact with us if you wish to find out more. Keep inspiring and being inspired and remember. Do or do not. There is no try.
